The SPA Film Festival on Archives and Records Management

News Bulletin, 15ht April 2016

The Section on Professional Associations (SPA) is pleased to announce nine winning advocacy films which will be shown during the ICA Congress in Seoul, Korea this September.

We sent out a call in January of this year to archives and records management professionals across the globe, in search of films which communicate the importance of records and archives.  Within the deadline we received 66 entries, 62 of which met the required qualifications.

The jury – SPA Bureau members – reviewed all 66 entries and decided on nine nominees. These nine are listed below. Although we received films from all continents (at least one from each), the vast majority of films are from Europe, which is also reflected in the list of nominations. The winner of each category will be announced at the ICA Congress in Seoul.

A few weeks before  the ICA Congress in Seoul we will make the nine nominated films available on this website.  At that time everyone is invited to view the nine films and cast your vote for The People´s award.  The People’s award will also be announced at the ICA Congress.

It has been such a joyful and inspiring journey so far and we can´t wait to show you all the great films!

Our goal is to make all entries available on the ICA SPA website sometime after the ICA Seoul Congress.

Send us your films on archives and/or records management! We´re aiming for a festival filled with inspiration, enthusiasm and love for our profession!

Has your employer produced a film to communicate the value of records and archives?  We all know what an important role archivists and records managers play in our society, but we need to tell the rest of the world. SPA has advocacy high up on our ‘to do’ list and film is a powerful way to reach stakeholders, gain attention and bring understanding.  Let´s take part in each other´s successes, learn and be inspired!

We will show the best films during the festival and of course there will be awards!
